Opening Session: Farmer-led Advocacy for Climate Action

Join for an inspiring look at how farmers and farm organizations are advocating for climate action in agriculture across Canada. NFU Director of Climate Crisis Policy, Darrin Qualman, will provide an overview of the science of climate change and what can be done in terms of mitigation. Karen Ross, Director of Farmers for Climate Solutions, and Gillian Flies of the New Farm will speak about Farmers for Climate Solutions, a coalition of 18 organizations throughout Canada working to advocate for programs, policies and practices that are good for agriculture, for people and for the planet. You will learn about the work of the coalition so far, how you can engage and why it could be a game-changer for you and your farm.
